Historic Bluffton, SC is one of those places you'd love to call "home". Let us show you why. This beautiful village on the northern bluff of the May River (hence the name) was originally situated to take advantage of the cooling sea breeze. That's an almost daily phenomena here in the Lowcountry, and is responsible for the afternoon pastime of "kickin' back".

We'll let you kick back for a relaxing boat ride up from our location on Skull Creek in Hilton Head Island, to the mouth of the May River, tracing it's source up river as we follow the path of those before us who first explored these waters. You'll see first hand why they chose to settle Bluffton where they did.
Stopping in Bluffton to stretch our legs, we'll discuss Bluffton's survival of the Civil War (a.k.a. "War of Northern Aggression") and even visit an historic church that survived the destruction of most of the old village at that time. Venturing into historic Bluffton, we'll have some time to browse the quaint shops and galleries which now occupy some of the historic buildings and offer a glimpse into the life of modern residents and artisans.

Lest you decide to "settle" in Bluffton yourself, we'll head back on the boat, but not without including a water's view of the last operating oyster company in the state of South Carolina. Perhaps we'll see a shrimp trawler or an oysterman returning with his wooden bateau laden with the day's harvest, still collected the "old-fashioned" way -- by hand.
